In libreria. Attivatevi! Prendete un libro leggete una, due, cinque, dieci pagine, saltate da una parte all’altra del libro, insomma fate un “un prelievo”. Ripetete la cosa con altri libri finché avete voglia. Ricordatevi che potete comprare libri anche se ora non avete il tempo di leggerli, dai vostri scaffali casalinghi potete eseguire il “prelievo” appena descritto quando vi capita, magari prendendo appunti o fotografando una pagina. Abituatevi quindi a leggere tanto e velocemente (sempre cogliendo il senso di quello che state leggendo). Lo spirito è: a scuola chiedetevi in bagno a leggere un libro piuttosto che fumare le canne. Siate fuorilegge della creatività e dell’arte.
Più progetti contemporaneamente. Questi sono utili. Le api saltano di fiore in fiore, cibandosi e facendo tante cose utili (come l’impollinazione): quando siete stanchi e vi sembra di aver esaurito la fantasia, passate a un progetto parallelo. Ma leggete anche il terzo consiglio.
Ogni tanto riposatevi! Non alienatevi al computer o a progetti, in cui avete raggiunto un poco prolifico stallo. Mettete la sveglia a dieci quindici minuti più tardi e fate un pisolino. Non vi consiglio di dormire di giorno e attivarvi di notte, alla lunga vi sentirete molto a disagio.
Non restate chiuso in casa aspettando che il mondo vi si riveli, cercate contatti, comunicate sia di persona che online. Imparate l’arte di “vendervi”, non leggendo questa affermazione in senso negativo.
Tenete un diario, tenete uno sketchbook (consiglio un taccuino di disegni anche a chi non è interessato alle arti visive, per esempio un musicista), aprite un blog con WordPress.
Fai ciò che ami fare. Non ingrigirti in un posto di lavoro che non ti stimola. Cerca un posto che ti faccia svegliare felice, anche se ciò comporta sforzi e tempi maggiori. Abbiamo una sola vita da vivere.
In arte non è il cosa ma il come che importa. Per esempio: non farti influenzare da manuali di disegno realizzati da persone che insegnano perché non sono riusciti a vendere la propria arte, e chiamano questo fenomeno: vocazione all’insegnamento. Io ho avuto pessimi maestri come lodevoli insegnanti, cerca di non affidare alla fortuna tutto ciò, anche perché ogni input influenza il tuo stile non avere un unico maestro, ma cento! (Google è lì che ti aspetta)
Specializzati. Decidi oculatamente un argomento nel quale specializzarti. Conoscendo a fondo una materia cercherai di andare oltre a quello che si conosce.
Sii curioso. I motori di ricerca non vedono l’ora di soddisfare ogni come, quando, perché riguardo a quello che ti passa per la mente.
In the bookstore. Get active! Pick up a book read one, two, five, ten pages, jump from one side of the book to the other, in short do a “pick-up.” Repeat this with other books as long as you feel like it. Don’t stay locked in your house waiting for the world to reveal itself to you, seek out contacts, communicate both in person and online. Learn the art of “selling yourself,” not reading this statement in a negative way.
Keep a journal, keep a sketchbook (I recommend a sketchbook even for those who are not interested in visual arts, for example, a musician), start a blog with WordPress.
Do what you love to do. Don’t congeal in a job that doesn’t stimulate you. Look for a place that makes you wake up happy, even if it means more effort and time. We only have one life to live.
In art it is not the what but the how that matters. For example: don’t be influenced by drawing manuals made by people who teach because they have failed to sell their art, and they call this phenomenon: teaching vocation. I’ve had bad teachers as well as praiseworthy teachers — try not to rely on luck for all that.
Specialized. Decide wisely on a topic in which to specialize. By knowing a subject in depth, you will try to go beyond what is known.
